Detailed Itinerary of the 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda

  • Day 1 of the 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali

After your breakfast, you will be picked by our guide either from your hotel or Kigali international airport and transfer you to Akagera National park. The journey lasts for not more than 3 hours depending on the stopovers along the way.

On your journey to the park, you will stopover at the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Centre to witness the mass tribal killings which was between the Hutu and the Tutsi. You will be able to see the skulls of many Rwandan victims who lost their lives.

After you will have lunch en-route and continue to the Akagera National Park. The guide will clear for entrance and proceed with a game drive along the way to check in at the hotel / lodge for an overnight stay.  Here your guide will help you to spot different animals in the park like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, lions and many more.

After checking in, you may opt to go for an evening game drive or rest. Thereafter, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 2 of the 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Morning game drive and boat ride along Lake Ihema. 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel early morning thereafter you will proceed by the help of your tour guide for a beautiful and memorable game drive. The game drive usually lasts about 3-6 hours depending on your interest in animal viewing.

You will have an opportunity to sport most of the big mammals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and different species of antelopes, zebras, lions and rhinos which were re-introduced recently. You will also have a golden opportunity to spot more than 480 birds if at all you’re interested in bird watching because Akagera has got very many bird species on the checklist.

Return to the hotel/ hotel for lunch and after your guide will drive you to Lake Ihema for a boat ride. On this mass water body, you will have unforgettable, memorable photographic experience and you will have a chance to spot hippos sunbathing on the shores of the lake and very many bird species will be spotted along the shores of the lake.

After you will return to the lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 3 of the 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Return to Kigali for departure.

Breakfast will be served at the lodge/ hotel thereafter you will drive through the park spotting wild animals on your way out. Later you will check out and drive direct to Kigali. You will have lunch along the way with stopovers at some of the local markets to purchase some Rwandan stuff to go with home.
