Gorilla Safari Lodge (Bwindi Uganda Gorilla Safari) 2021 – Star Wilderness Safaris
Gorilla Safari Lodge is a unique lodging establishment in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Rushaga area is in southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it is set just at the extreme side of the park and the lodge is set just at a close proximity to where trekkers begin their search for mountain gorillas.
It is a perfect lodging facility for guests on Uganda gorilla trekking safari who are interested in trekking mountain gorillas in the Rushaga region. It is suitably located in such a way it provides breathtaking view of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and surrounding areas.
Gorilla Safari Lodge is composed of 11 large cottages, each providing ample environment for trekkers to relax after a long day mountain gorilla trekking experience. The cottages are solar-powered and they have en-suite bathrooms each fitted with hot and cold showers, clean flush toilets, spacious balconies for guests to have remarkable view over tropical rainforest.
The 2 cottages consist of double rooms and they are en-suite. The lodge also has a warm fireplace for guests to relax out in the cold evenings, inter-joining doors ideal for family travelers and group travelers. Other features in the main lodge include a classic restaurant, well-stocked bar, lounge, fireplace, Campfire over viewing the verdant Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This hospitality facility also features a Spa, for guests to do massages after the long day gorilla trek, Gorilla Habituation Experience.

Guests who spend a night in Gorilla Safari Lodge can engage in mountain gorilla trekking starting from Rushaga sector. Because of its ideal location in Rushaga, you get opportunity to trek habituated families like Nshongi, Bweza, Kahungye, Busingye, Kutu, Nshongi, Mishaya, Rwingi, Mucunguzi gorilla group. Each gorilla permit in Uganda is costs US dollars 600 for foreign non-residents, US dollars 500 for foreign residents and shs. 250000 for East African citizens.
Other exciting safari activities to engage in while at Gorilla Safari Lodge include guided forest walks, community walks in the Batwa communities and local schools, birding, volunteer tourism, hiking to the scenic waterfalls within Rushaga area especially Bayenda waterfall.
Gorilla Safari Lodge forms part of the Crystal Lodges Uganda and it is run by the same management. Aside from Gorilla Safari Lodge, Crystal Lodges also runs the Crater Safari Lodge on the banks of Nyinabulitwa Crater Lake (western Uganda).
How to get to Gorilla Safari Lodge
By road, guests can transfer from Entebbe or Kampala capital city then drive via Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale/Kisoro route to Gorilla Safari Lodge. This is 8-10 hours’ drive from Entebbe/Kampala and from Kigali, you will spend about 3-4 hours’ drive and you will drive via Katuna or Chanika border to Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
By air, guests can take charter flight service starting from Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airfield to Kisoro airstrip or Kihihi airstrip then transfer later to Gorilla Safari Lodge. Driving from Kisoro airstrip to this lodge may cover about 2 hours in a good 4×4 safari vehicle.
